New Year, New Beginnings
The Patriots Initiative sends warm wishes to all for a great year ahead! With every new year comes a chance for new beginnings. At TPI, we strive to make every year a great year for our active duty military, veterans, and their families. TPI achieves this goal with the help of our wonderful donors. Last year, TPI was able to donate $5,000 to the Semper Fi Fund, which provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. With this donation, Semper Fi Fund was able to help eight veterans from San Diego County. Below is an exert from Semper Fi Fund’s President, CEO, and Founder, Karen Guenther.
"I am delighted to share with you the impact of The Patriots Initiative 2018 gift of $5,000. Thanks to your organization, eight veterans from San Diego County now have the tools and resources they need to continue a successful transition.
One veteran assisted by the donation is a Gunnery Sergeant from San Diego who completed multiple combat deployments throughout his Marine Corps career. While deployed to Afghanistan, the Gunnery Sergeant sustained a traumatic brain injury as the result of an improvised explosive device and was subsequently diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). After retirement from the Marine Corps, he struggled with daily tasks as well as managing his stress. While working aboard a charter fishing boat, he realized it alleviated his stress and helped him find peace. Your donation supplied the funds necessary for the Gunnery Sergeant to obtain his Captain’s license which allows him to have full-time access to a charter fishing boat and a new avenue to manage his PTSD. He is now able to focus on using his new skills to not only recover but to thrive.
Additionally, your funding purchased computers, iPads, and educational software for seven other veterans in San Diego County which will ease their transition from active duty to civilian life.
Your commitment to care for those who have served our nation and your dedication to philanthropy has helped to ensure that our programs are relevant and readily available. We cannot thank you enough for your generous support of our San Diego County veterans."
With support from donors, The Patriots Initiative hopes to continue helping our military, veterans, and their families in the coming year. TPI’s Directory is regularly updated with the greatest nonprofits working toward the same goal. One hundred percent of all donations to TPI go toward one of four categories; the Wounded and Fallen Fund, Warriors in Transition Fund, Family Support Fund, and the TPI Discretionary Fund. With these funds, the lives of all active duty military, veterans, and their families can be changed for the better. Here at TPI, we plan to make 2019 the best year yet!
