History

The Patriots Initiative (TPI) began as a focused outreach program at the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation (San Diego County, CA). As a community foundation located in the heart of the San Diego region, the home of America’s largest military service area, we have been answering the call since 2008. Initially named The Armed Forces Interest Group (AFIG), the program was created to focus on the needs of military service members and their families.

AFIG expanded its reach and soon evolved into The Patriots Initiative to serve the growing and complex needs presented by a 21st century, all-volunteer military. With a refreshed mission, vision and strategy, The Patriots Initiative, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation has emerged as a leading resource for informed donors seeking to be impactful in their support of these important causes.

Today, TPI publishes THE DIRECTORY, the most comprehensive list of thoroughly vetted, accredited nonprofits focused on supporting the nation’s armed forces communities. We make it simpler and more effective for TPI’s donors to confidently make charitable gifts that serve the most critical needs by working with only the finest nonprofits.

And today, TPI also produces the WIT MATRIX, considered the nation’s most comprehensive listing of vetted employers, educators and resources – with direct links – who stand ready to hire veterans transitioning to the private sector when their service to the nation is complete… it’s a one-stop ‘clearinghouse’ approach to directly connecting veterans with their future opportunities.

The Board of The Patriots Initiative is comprised of proven professional and community leaders – all of which volunteer their talents, time and resources to TPI – and many of whom have served in the military. The mission of TPI has been carried forward by a dedicated professional staff, which has raised charitable funds to support and honor marines, sailors, airmen, soldiers and their families.

TPI has begun a national rollout, engaging local business, education and community leaders as founders of new Patriots Initiative chapters in their regions and cities. We are inviting proven, capable leaders to join us in this important 21st century cause. If you’re a proven leader, interested in learning more, please contact us directly.
