Marcus Luttrell Navy Seal Speech at Rep Convention

Jul 19, 2016

Last night, Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell spoke—and went off script—at the Republican National Convention. He stunned the crowd of thousands with his candor, strength, and urgent message: we must love this country more than we love ourselves.

Marcus didn’t sugarcoat it: the enemy is here, he said. For the younger generation, “Your war is here.” He asked, “Who among you will step up and take the fight?”

But his message was one of hope. “America is the light,” he said, “and her people are the goodness that grows from that. She’ll always be worth fighting for—it was my greatest honor to fight for her every day of my adult life.”

In these troubled times, our survival requires that we stand with one another. “The only way we survive this is together, not apart,” Marcus said—ignoring the Teleprompter, speaking straight from his heart.

At minute 6:40 Marcus states. “…and even when the system does take care of our [veterans], citizens step up and start founding foundations and programs to help the wounded and the families of the fallen…”
