THE PATRIOTS INITIATIVE is pleased to announce that it has provisionally recognized CreatiVets and the San Diego Financial Literacy Center (specifically the “Boost For Our Heroes” program) to be included as one of the finest nonprofit organizations that improve the lives and wellbeing of our nation’s military service members, wounded and fallen warriors, veterans and their families.

As provisionally qualified Directory organizations, these nonprofits have shown merit and considerable potential, yet lack in some areas of performance and supportable information that do not enable them to currently attain full qualification status for the TPI Directory. TPI will continue to observe and monitor CreatiVets and the San Diego Financial Literacy Center’s Boost For Our Heroes program. Every ‘provisional’ member of the TPI Directory is re-evaluated again after six months to determine if they retain or change their current qualification status.

CreatiVets: Founded in 2013, CreatiVets introduces combat-disabled veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries to songwriting and conceptual-based art techniques as alternative methods for healing. CreatiVets currently offers two program opportunities for veterans – a songwriting program that pairs veterans with accomplished songwriters in Nashville, TN, to write a song that creatively expresses their story; and a three-week art program with The School of the Art Institute (SAIC) in Chicago, IL, where veterans learn the art of ceramics, painting and photography. San Diego Financial Literacy Center (specifically the “Boost For Our Heroes” program): The San Diego Financial Literacy Center’s Boost For Our Heroes program is geared towards active duty, transitioning and veteran military members to provide financial education. The program offers a variety or workshops, outreach efforts, and one-on-one consultations to help military personnel, veterans, and their families to become financially fit. Each quarter, an impartial panel selects a constituent who is awarded a $3,000 stipend due to financial hardship. Since 2014, the SDFLC has given $39,000 to thirteen service members. The Patriots Initiative’s Warriors In Transition Program member, Workshops for Warriors, is holding its Inaugural Gala Abroad the USS Midway on April 20, 2017.

Workshops for Warriors is a State-licensed, board governed, fully audited 501(c)(3) nonprofit school that trains, certifies, and helps place veterans, wounded warriors, and transitioning service members into advanced manufacturing careers. Students earn nationally recognized portable and stackable credentials.
